James stopped for a moment, and his brow became furrowed in worry. “Mommy, when I go to school, they don’t say that God created the earth. They say we came from apes.”
“I know, honey. I know all about evolution. I don’t doubt that God created the world to evolve, but I know and believe that a world which evolves couldn’t have been created without God,” Maggie said with conviction.
“So, then God created a world which could evolve over time?” James asked, searching for truth.
“Yes, son.”
“I have one more question. How long did it take God to create everything?” James asked.
“No one knows for sure, dear. The Big Book says it took six days, but it also explains that for the Lord, time works differently. A single day for Him can be like a thousand years to us, and a thousand years can pass in the blink of an eye for Him. While we live in a world with clocks and calendars, His time is infinite and unmeasurable. That’s why understanding it can feel so mysterious.” Maggie said.
